Nursing approach to post-surgical mastectomy patients: literature review

Objective: The objective of this study was to analyze the scientific evidence on nursing interventions aimed at post-surgical mastectomy patients. Method: A descriptive, qualitative literature review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. Electronic databases were searched, and after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 17 articles published between 2019 and 2023 were selected. Results: The results showed that the main interventions included wound care, pain management, drainage control, limb rehabilitation, self-care education, and emotional support, as well as non-pharmacological techniques to reduce anxiety and stress. Conclusion: It was concluded that a systematic, evidence-based approach promoted physical and emotional recovery and improved patients' quality of life.
