Introduction: Burnout syndrome significantly impacts healthcare personnel, particularly nurses in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), due to the physical and emotional demands of their profession. Objective: The objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome among nursing staff in the intensive care unit. Methods: The methodology included a search of databases such as Scopus, PubMed, and SciELO, selecting studies related to the research objective. An analysis was performed to identify risk factors and dimensions of burnout. Results: The analysis revealed a high prevalence of the syndrome among ICU nurses. Emotional exhaustion was the most common dimension, followed by depersonalization and job dissatisfaction. Conclusions: In conclusion, nursing staff in ICUs are especially vulnerable, negatively impacting both their physical and emotional well-being and the quality of patient care.
