Abstract

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to analyze the current state of composite resin heating and preheating in restorative dentistry through a literature review. The methodological approach was quantitative, using a literature review design. The techniques employed included a literature review and content analysis, and the instruments used were data sheets and analysis matrices. In addition, the PRISMA methodology was used to select articles from databases such as Scopus, Scielo, and Web of Science. The results indicated that preheating composite resins significantly improves the degree of conversion, flow, and marginal adaptation, while reducing microleakage, stress, and cure depth. In conclusion, preheating composite resins at temperatures between 54 °C and 68 °C improves the degree of conversion and the rheological properties of the material, facilitating its clinical use without compromising pulp safety.
